Turning a disconnected, dark, kitchen into the hub of this family home. Prioritising connection to the garden which sits over 1.5m below the house.
Key to the scheme was to extend the existing Victorian loggia so that the isolated kitchen had a direct connection to the main entertaining space, this allowed us to open up this elevation, celebrating the original bay window.
Good (and complicated) things come in small packages and after exploring many different options the decision was made to move the drainage for the house to square off the kitchen with a very small extension. This gave just enough space for a full height crittal window looking through the rear courtyard to the garden.
